On 18 May, pianist Hélène Papadopoulos and violinist Marie-Claudine Papadopoulos will perform Bach’s sonatas for keyboard and violin at Paliesius Manor!
Hélène and Marie-Claudine are sibling artists, renowned for their interpretation of Bach’s music. They share a close sensitivity and a similar vision of Bach’s music. Since they enrich their playing and nurture their reflection with the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual response of their audience, each concert becomes a different and extraordinary experience.
The six Sonatas for Keyboard and Violin BWV 1014-1017 stand as history’s very first modern duo sonatas, where the keyboard is not a mere accompanying instrument, but treated as equal to the violin. The Sonatas are unbelievably varied, each with its own distinctive features and character, alternating slow movements with incredibly beautiful melodious lines, with fast contrapuntal movements that demand a sharp virtuosity for the keyboard and the violin.
