Come meet the young talent Povilas Norkūnas on February 27!
This evening’s program stands out for its exceptionally wide range of moods. At first, expect mystery and intensity listening to the romantic miniatures by Čiurlionis, the sacred chorale by Bach, and the philosophical depths of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 23, continued by Brahms’s Opus 117, imbued with an insatiable longing for happiness, whose poetic tone will be spontaneously interrupted by the Bayerisch-Babylonischer Marsch by Widmann, contemporary German composer, before Schumann’s Carnaval, the crowning piece of the evening.
Povilas Norkūnas (born 2005) performs annually on Lithuania’s most renowned stages and has already appeared at venues abroad: the Palace of Gödöllő in Hungary and the Temple du Bas in Switzerland. In March 2026, he won first place at the X International Stasys Vainiūnas Piano Competition, along with concert prizes in Lithuania and a scholarship to attend the international piano academy “Feuerwerk.
