The programme by pianist Gintaras Januševičius is a journey through Venice, a musical mystery based on the legends and images of this mysterious city. The audience, following the change of the musical pieces, will feel as if carried by gondolas through the portraits of Venetian inhabitants and the city’s paintings, able to intuitively touch the mysteries of the life of the olden time. Listeners will recognize such carnival characters as Pierrot and Harlequin, the treacherous Casanova, and enjoy the sounds inspired by Murano stained glass, silk, and the scent of orange blossom.

Gintaras Januševičius rose to fame in 2004, when he became the youngest finalist of the Montréal International Music Competition: his performances of Rachmaninoff’s Études-Tableaux Op. 39 were praised by many piano masters. As a soloist, he has appeared with more than 30 orchestras, and has presented solo and chamber programmes in many Lithuanian and German cities, as well as other cities abroad.
