Spend a summer afternoon with four talented musicians and wonderful music!
The Pēteris Vasks Quartet is a special project that brings together four excellent Latvian musicians on tour in Latvia and across Europe to celebrate the composer’s 80th birthday in 2026.
At the center of its program is Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, a 20th-century chamber music masterpiece in eight movements, premiered in 1941 in a war camp. This work is very dear to Vasks, who drew inspiration from it for his piano trio, “Episodi e Canto Perpetuo” also in eight movements (1985, performed in the extended concert version). Arvo Part’s Fratres is included upon request of Pēteris Vasks.
The musicians have all performed in famous halls in various countries and won numerous prizes.
