Late Junction, an award-winning BBC Radio 3 programme, is a favourite among music lovers. The show’s appeal lies in its unique listening experience, where medieval ballads are juxtaposed with 21st-century electronic music and alternative jazz is mixed with folk. The unexpected combinations are surprising and open different contexts for listening to music.
In the tradition of listening established by this programme, we present Late Junctions. The timbre of the voice rarely heard in Lithuanian concert halls (countertenor), the instrument usually associated with the Lithuanian folk repertoire (kanklės), the vocal ensemble, the baroque arias, the minimalist and postmodern works: all of them become the components that create an organic and surprising concert programme.
