Jausmė is a composer, singer, songstress, who is one of the not-so-many artists who decided to spread the word about the kanklės, a traditional Lithuanian zither-harp, beyond the borders of Lithuania. In her compositions, with the help of her voice, 29 strings, Lithuanian and English languages, she weaves the styles of folklore, soul, minimalism into a cosy blanket, decorated with elements of dub, jazz, post-rock, electronica and other genres she enjoys.
After half a decade of musical work (solo and other projects, documentary soundtrack in collaboration with BBC, electronic music collaborations, organising events) and life in Bristol, UK, the performer came back to the motherland in the summer of 2020. There, inspired by her roots, familiar forests, language, people’s stories and musicians such as Thom Yorke, Moses Sumney, The Cinematic Orchestra, Lianne La Havas etc., in March 2022, she released a solo album ‘Namolio’ about her journey back home and to her authenticity, through losses and discoveries, realisations and unlearning.
