In celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis, saxophonist Jan Maksimovič and pianist Dmitrij Golovanov invite you on an impressive and profound musical journey, where the worlds of classical music, contemporary jazz and improvisation merge.
The programme is an interpretation of Čiurlionis’ preludes, performed by talented masters of improvised music, whose interpretations extend the original works into larger improvisational forms. This is also their latest album, which was recorded at the Paliesius manor Concert Hall and now will be presented during this concert. The audience will be able to buy the album, signed by the artists.
This is a rare opportunity to experience Čiurlionis’ work in a contemporary improvisational context: a kind of cultural dialogue between the past and the present, allowing each sound to reveal its full meaning and depth.
