Pianist Gintaras Januševičius has been surprising his audiences with inventive programmes for ten years. Now, on March 7, he will present his latest programme FREYLEKH!, which tells inspiring life stories of Jewish composers. “My grandmother was a Jewish survivor of the Second World War. This programme is a reflection of her smile, optimism, resilience, and creativity”, says the pianist. The overall mood of the programme is a literal translation of the Yiddish word Freylekh: happy, uplifting, celebratory, inviting us to dance and to forget the troubles that have clouded life. The programme will blend jazz, classical, and film music with national Jewish motifs.

Gintaras Januševičius is an internationally renowned pianist who rose to fame in 2004, when he became the youngest finalist in the Montreal International Piano Competition. As a soloist, he has appeared with more than 30 orchestras, and presented solo and chamber programmes in many cities.
