More than 100 years have passed since Čiurlionis’ death, but his work is still a source of inspiration for many artists. Now, two masters of jazz and improvised music, Dmitrij Golovanov and Jan Maksimovič, will reveal the beauty, fragility and grandeur of the genius’ music.
Dmitri Golovanov has been one of the most active participants in the jazz scene for two decades, and has an impressive list of achievements, festivals, creative projects and international collaborations. Last year he won the prestigious Grand Prix of the Birštonas Jazz Festival for his services to Lithuanian jazz and was also elected President of the Lithuanian Jazz Federation.
Jan Maksimovič is an outstanding specimen among Lithuanian jazz musicians of the middle generation. His rich sound, wide technical possibilities, bright and unexpected musical phrasing distinguish him from other saxophonists. Combined with his vast experience in improvisational music, the result is stunningly expressive playing.
