On 23 March, two exceptional Lithuanian violinists, Martynas Švėgžda von Bekker and Jonas Tankevičius, will perform at Paliesius Manor. Although the two musicians, characterised by their impressivity and subtlety, have a long-standing friendship, this will be the first time they meet on stage. Symbolically, this creative tandem will be accompanied by the Vilnius Amateur Orchestra: the orchestra, founded by Martynas’ grandfather Povilas Bekker, was the orchestra with which Martynas began his musical career as a soloist, and Jonas Tankevičius, the first violinist of the Čiurlionis Quartet, has been one of the orchestra’s closest friends for the past decade.
The carefully selected programme with a romantic spirit will feature less-performed violin music gems and works that have never been heard in Lithuania before: that’s why it will certainly be a special evening for music connoisseurs.
